4.067tcf increase in Nigerian gas reserves

Nigeria has the world’s 9th largest gas reserves, which has risen by 4.067 trillion cubic feet between 2014 and 2015. According to the “2017 Benchmarking Exercise Report” Nigeria is now a major exporter of gas globally by selling its gas to countries in Asia. It also recommends that the country increase its gas production to make gas processing and exportationhelp recover the market lost to shale gas discovery in the United States. Court ruling: Gazprom to pay $2.56 B

Gazprom has lost a 10-year transit contract dispute with Ukraine’s Naftogaz over Russian transit gas flows to Europe. This comes as a result of Gazprom reducing transit flows through Ukraine after it brought its Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline that runs directly to Germany across the Baltic Sea online in 2011. Stop approving Gas exports! – US group

The US ‘struck gold’ in 2016 when Cheniere Energy Inc’s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal came online. Within 2 years, the US already has an export capacity of 3 billion cubic feet which is expected to reach 4.6 bcfd by the end of 2018.  There are however, concerns by a manufacturing trade group that the country is consuming and exporting the fuel at a rate faster than it is discovering resources. Another Russian hack into the US?

US lawmakers just recently released a report claiming that Russian operatives used social media in an attempt to influence the US energy market and undermine energy production. The report has linked about 9,100 posts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram between 2015 and 2017 to operatives including the Internet Research Agency, one of the firms indicted for alleged Russian tampering in the US 2016 elections.
