Isreal signs $15B gas deal with Egypt

Two weeks ago, Egypt had declared self-sufficiency by the end of this year due to the recent opening of the Zohr gas field. In a twist of events however, it has just signed a new gas deal worth $15 billion dollars with Isreal for the supply of 64 billion cubic meters of gas between 2019 and 2029. GhassanKhatib, a former Palestinian Authority minister offered his opinion on why Egypt might have signed this deal. Nigeria - N868 Million lost daily to gas flaring

With mind boggling flare levels of up to 700 million scfd, according to reports from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigeria is grossly wasting her precious resources, and enormous economic potential. Gas conversion to support renewable energy in Nigeria

Flared gas conversion is being explored as part of means to stabilize the energy supply in Nigeria. Speaking at the Technology and Innovation Expo 2018, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. OgbonnayaOnu, said “Because of the abundance of natural gas in Nigeria, we should be able to use all the flared gas and convert it into methanol which will make it more useful not just in energy but in power and petrochemical industries. We need to build a strong chemical industry in Nigeria to enable us industrialise in a manner that will make us truly a great nation,”

Gas pipeline to run through Taliban controlled areas

In a surprising twist of events, a Taliban militant group is backing up a $7.5 billion gas pipeline project which will run through Taliban controlled areas. Coming after over 17 years of withstanding negotiations from the U.S - backed government, the pipeline, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline will carry an annual volume of 33 billion cubic meters of gas, which will generate over $400 million in annual revenue and create thousands of jobs.
