US – High gas prices not possible anymore

With its massive gas resource base discovered and being exploited with the shale revolution, US residents do not have to break their purses to pay for gas. Associated gas (which is a byproduct of crude oil production) volumes have reached almost 10 Bcf/d (13% of total US gas) from about 6.9 Bcf/d two years ago. This “free gas” has enabled the US’ rapid and massive arrival as a major player on the global LNG scene. Abu Dhabi signs $1.8 B gas deal with Eni

Abu Dhabi which holds 6 percent of the world’s crude, through its state owned producer has awarded Italian energy company, Eni SpA a 10 percent share in the Umm Shaif and Nasr oil fields for the sum of $575 million, and a 5 percent stake in the Lower Zakum deposit for $300 million. Eni will also receive $934 million from Abu Dhabi government- owned Mubadala Investment Co. in exchange for a 10 percent stake of Egypt’s Shorouk concession, and the Mediterranean area containing the Zohr gas field. Cameroon - World’s 2nd working example of nascent technology comes online

Golar LNG pioneered the conversion of ageing LNG tankers into giant refrigerators capable of chilling gas into its liquid form at minus 162 Celsius. The company, in a statement released today, said that it has started production at its floating LNG platform in Cameroon. Algeria: Sonatrach investment to boost gas production at Tinhert gas field

Sonatrach, the state-controlled energy firm in Algeria is set to invest $250 million in a bid to boost gas production from the Tinhert gas field from 5 mcm to 20 mcm per day by 2020. Total gas output in Algeria is around 100 billion cubic metres each year.
