LPG export of N4.81B, oil exports make up 95.58% of Nigeria’s total export in 4th quarter, 2017

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has revealed in its latest report that 95.58% of the total exports from Nigeria between October to December 2017 were petroleum products. These produced 3.738 trillion naira in earnings for the country. Of this figure, LPG exports stood at N4.81 billion. Abuja: Domestic gas sales to be regulated

Following a recent series of gas explosions in several parts of Nigeria, particularly the FCT, the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has disclosed that the council will begin to regulate the sale of domestic gas within the municipality as part of precautionary measures against incidents. The council has set up a committee to make findings and submit its recommendations in a report on gas operations within the city. Niger Delta: FG approves establishment of LPG Extraction Plant

The Federal Government has approved the establishment of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas extraction plant at Ikuru town in Rivers state. The project engineering, procurement, construction and installation will be handled by the PCC-LAMBDA consortium between Nigerian Indegenious companies and a Chinese company. The plant will power the 12MW gas generator at Otakikpo field, of which 5MW of gas generated will be dedicated to the host community, whilst the rest would be bottled and sold. 17 years later, Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline Project still ‘an illusion’

In 2001, a $12 billion Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline Project was conceived which would facilitated the supply of gas to Europe, thereby enabling Nigeria achieve zero gas flaring by 2020. The project, which was expected to be completed in 2018 is yet to commence, with very low signals of interest from investors. Challenges such as insecurity in Niger Delta, failure to meet gas supply obligations to Ghana, topography, are among the major hindrances to the project. India: Sharp surge in usage of LPG as kitchen fuel

There has been impressive growth in LPG volumes in India over the last year since the prime minister announced a scheme on May 1st, 2016 for expansion in LPG sector. LPG volume growth has been over 8%, and the initial crore connections target has been increased from 3 to 8 crore due to growing usage of LPG.
