China: Strategy for combating winter air pollution

Since 2017, the government of China has taken aggressive steps to combat the gross air pollution levels that have plagued the economic nation for so long, especially the northern cities each winter. Hong Kong: State utility finalizing EIA report for LNG

CLP Power, the state-run facility for generating power in Hong Kong has announced that it is finalizing an environmental impact assessment study for its LNG project. This is coming on the heels of Hong Kong’s commitment to the Climate Change Agreement by increasing its use of natural gas in its total fuel mix for power generation from 22 percent to about 50 percent. Japanese firm offers rail transport of LPG

With the growing demand for relatively clean-burning natural gas, and the anticipated “Golden age” for the fuel, Japan Petroleum Exploration, Japex is promoting rail transport as an environmentally friendly way to distribute LNG in the U.S as against sole use of trucks. This method of transportation helps to slash carbon dioxide emissions by 80% compared to using trucks alone. Demand for natural gas in China has almost quadrupled to about one-third of what the U.S uses.
