Sidelined But Unbothered

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has kept Shell and Chevron out of the loop on its plan to extend the 678-kilometre West African Gas Pipeline worth $1 billion to Cote D’Ivoire, as revealed by THISDAY’s investigation. Shell and Chevron, major shareholders in the Chevron-run West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAGPCo), and their Nigerian offices being managed by Osagie Okunbor, and Jeff Ewing respectively, are the least bothered by the development. Western Egypt’s Desert Is Oil Well Enough

Three oil deals for oil and gas exploration in the Western Desert of Egypt with a minimum investment of about $79 million, and grant of $41 million for drilling 17 new oil and gas wells has been signed by  Tarek al-Mulla, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum, with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the American companies ‘Apache’ and ‘Merlon.’ Read more here: https://english.aawsat.com/theaawsat/business/egypt-inks-three-new-oil-exploration-agreements

A Renewable Change

To achieve better service delivery in the power sector in Nigeria, Mr. Godpower Ezuzu, the CEO of Enerplaz Limited, in his presentation at a workshop on the Nigerian Content Development Act, organized by the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in Port Harcourt last week, said the government should diversify from its monolithic economy where over 70% of forex is derived from oil and gas to renewable energy.
