Gas demand in China goes through the roof!

China, the world’s largest energy consumer, has been experiencing a consumption surge which is a result of a government drive that started last year to switch factories and millions of homes from coal to gas in order to cut harmful emissions. Natural gas production is rising at the fastest pace in four years but that will not be enough to meet the demand for the fuel that has been unleashed through a government program to raise gas usage in order to clean the country’s polluted air. Australians to pay more for gas

Based on the forecast price and consumption trends, including the Australian government’s current gas policy settings, households in New South Wales will pay $434 more for electricity than if gas prices were at a level the competition regulator has said is reasonable, while those in Queensland will pay $313 more and Victoria $254.
