Nigeria Natural Gas Production, flared, utilised, sales (2001 - 2018)

In this report

As a cleanest hydrocarbon, natural gas produces roughly half of the CO2 emissions and just one tenth of the atmospheric pollutants of coal when burned to produce energy.

It's plenty. If consumption persisted at the current levels, sufficient recuperable gas resources would be available to last about 230 years.
It's polyvalent. A gas-fired power plant requires far less than a coal-fired power plant to start and stop. This flexibility makes natural gas an excellent partner for renewable sources of energy, such as solar and wind power, available only if sun shines and the wind blows.
