The European Union has announced it will no longer classify Power plants fueled by natural gas as a sustainable investment in Europe. Reutters reports that the only exception to this rule lies in the investment meeting emissions limit which reports say none currently comply with, according to draft European Union regulations.
The current rule of the EU prescribes that projects can only be classified as sustainable if they make a “substantial” contribution to curbing climate change - gas power plants must not produce more than 100 grams of CO2 equivalent per kilowatt hour.
